History
Slot House, known also as Dusheiko House, built 2019. Neil Dusheiko Architects designed this London residence for the architect's own family. It is a radical remodeling of an existing Victorian terrace house. The project was shortlisted for the NLA Don't Move, Improve! and AJ Retrofit Awards in 2019.
Architecture
The house is a contemporary renovation of a Victorian terrace. It incorporates a dramatic double-storey 'slot window' skylight. This feature brings natural light into the home. Materials include wood, natural stone, glass, steel, bronze, and copper.
Setting
The house is a narrow Victorian terrace in Stoke Newington, North London. The original property was described as dark, fragmented, with poor connection to the garden. Light enters through the dramatic double-storey skylight, illuminating the interior.
