History
Niliaitta, a prototype by Studio Puisto, was completed 2020. It serves as a model for the Kivijärvi Resort. The design reinterprets traditional Sámi niliaitta huts.
Architecture
The structure is a modern cabin. It elevates on a single central steel column. Exterior cladding is black-painted wood. Interior surfaces use light wooden panels. The construction incorporates eco-wool insulation.
Setting
The cabin sits within a woodland near Salamajärvi National Park in Kivijärvi, Central Finland. It elevates on a single column, minimizing its footprint. The structure rises above the forest floor, casting long shadows into the dappled light of the surrounding woods.
