History
The Bird's Nest was completed in 2010. It is one of several rooms at the Treehotel in Harads, Sweden. Inredningsgruppen, with Bertil Harström, designed the structure.
Architecture
The treehouse exterior is covered in twigs and branches. It largely is indiscernible from its natural surroundings. Inside, the 17 m² space features wooden panels. Small, discreet windows are set into the walls. Plywood forms the underlying structure.
Setting
The house stands in a tall pine forest in Harads, northern Sweden. Views extend towards the Lule River. The climate brings cold, long winters. Access is via an electric retractable ladder. Light shifts with the seasons above the polar circle.
