History
The UFO Treehouse was completed in 2011. Inredningsgruppen and Bertil Harström designed the structure. It functions as a distinctive accommodation at the Treehotel. The design aimed to be an unexpected encounter in the forest.
The structure counterpoints the camouflaged Bird's Nest. Hidden anchors and a lightweight composite shell minimize impact on host trees.
Architecture
The UFO Treehouse presents a Sci-fi Modern style. It is suspended four to six meters above the ground. A lightweight composite shell forms the exterior. Plywood and pale wood define interior surfaces.
The structure measures 30 square meters. Access is via a retractable ladder.
Setting
The structure is in Harads, a village in Swedish Lapland. It sits 70 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. The house is suspended within a boreal pine forest. Views extend to the Lule River Valley.
The location offers opportunities to witness the Northern Lights.
