History
The residence was built in 2022. Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects designed the structure. It is known as 'New House in San Nazzaro'.
Architecture
The structure presents a contemporary design. Its irregular polygonal form is determined by the plot's shape. Rough washed concrete surfaces form the exterior. These surfaces darken with weathering. Within, a clear rectangular living space is inscribed. Inner courtyards provide light and privacy. Polished concrete, solid oak, and natural stone complete the interior material palette.
Setting
The house is situated in San Nazzaro, Gambarogno, Switzerland. It occupies a steep slope on Lake Maggiore's eastern shore. The site lies between the lake and the mountain. Inner courtyards are positioned to capture light. The panoramic lake view reveals itself from the roof terrace.
