History
Maku Yane no Ie, or House with Membrane Roof, was built in 2022. Yuko Nagayama & Associates and shohei yoshida + associates designed the structure. It accommodates a client with a nomadic lifestyle, conceived as an urban campsite in the city.
Architecture
The structure features a double-membrane roof. T-shaped structural beams support the form. Light-transmitting insulation provides enclosure. The roof creates semi-circular light tubes. An indoor garden with a tree occupies the space. Ground floor holds private spaces; the second floor is for social use.

The house stands in Asagaya, Tokyo. A narrow site, surrounded by buildings on three sides, defines its location within a dense residential area. Natural light enters through the innovative roof, illuminating the urban campsite.
