History
Casa Martha was designed by Naso, led by José Ignacio Vargas. Construction completed in 2019. It formed part of the ReConstruir México initiative. This project rebuilt homes after the 2017 earthquake. The house addressed the needs of an elderly couple with mobility issues and their two adult children.
Architecture
The structure features a vaulted concrete roof. Walls are constructed from pale earthen bricks and Ecoblocks. These materials define its form.
Setting
The house occupies a sloping, rugged site in rural Mexico. It stands between Malinalco, an archaeological and tourist site, and Chalma, a pilgrimage site. Sunlight defines daily rhythms across the terrain.
